Please tell us a little more about yourself and your journey thus far.

I’m the only girl and first born in a family of 4 siblings. I’ve always been the self-starter in many areas of my life, helping my family, friends and strangers. I have a big heart and I never want anyone to suffer if I can assist them – sometimes to my own detriment. At age 18 I finished high school and immediately started working. I was never one for university path until I really needed to and completed my tertiary education whilst working. It took a whole 10 years to complete my communications degree (a stop start situation from my second year to third year).

Years on after various corporate sectors (Retail, Cellular, Banking) I am now in the self-employed space and loving every moment through its up and down seasons in the last 7 years.

Please tell us a little more about how your company came about.

I started my speaking career just after high school at the age of 18. I was trained as a broadcaster through a Deutsche Welle TV program and I’ve always been comfortable in front of people and entertaining audiences. Many years later I realized that speaking was my gift and with years of experience including corporate eventing and marketing expertise, the business was registered in 2014 and started operating a year later when I took the leap of Faith and ended my corporate career to follow my passion.

Should you be busy with any interesting initiatives, please tell us a little more about it.

The Voice Within has 4 focus areas. Areas 2 – 4 are work in progress to establish and launch as individual, yet, co-existing brands within the business and partnering, with like-minded people to execute by the end of 2022.

  1. Public Speaking which is the core of the business.
  2. TeenSpiration – a legacy pillar focusing on Teenagers (currently a facilitator on Self- Awareness with Girl Unlimited SA).
  3. Be You Nje – for all those who are want to find their Authentic Self and Voice.
  4. Why Not Me – dovetailing 3 above – for those who doubt themselves and their capabilities.

Please tell us about your recent award win and how this impacts your work in the energy sector and as a businesswoman.

I was awarded Finalist and Second Runner in the Standard Bank Top Women Entrepreneur of the Year Award (2021).

The awards impact is as follows to myself and the business:
* They add to the credibility to our current clients and especially to those who may be thinking of engaging our service offering.
* They give recognition of work to date.
* They put us on the map alongside competitors.
* They make TVW a force to be reckoned with.

What is it that you are passionate about?

* Providing excellent service every time and engaging minds and capturing hearts.
* Encouraging whoever I cross paths with to be Authentic, To Be Bold and Unapologetically share they stories. Someone needs to hear it.
* Transforming the lives of Teenagers between the ages of 13-19. My upbringing has drawn me to this age group and my audacious goal is to touch the lives of 1 billion young people globally in my lifetime.

Who or What has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

My late grandmother and my mum – they both persevered and still persevere through every struggle and keep blessing those around them even without reciprocity.

What is your personal “motto”?

Passion, Purpose, Excellence.

What advice would you give a woman wanting to follow her dreams?

Be Authentic, no one can do what you do, the way you do it.

Who or what is your inspiration and why?

My late grandmother – she used every skillset she had – she planted every vegetable and tree we needed, she raised chickens (broilers and layers), she sewed clothes for my mum and her siblings, she baked bread, cakes and made home-made jam. Every time I think of her – I realise just how much power we have as individuals especially women – if only we could tap into it more and dig deeper.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Be fearless and stop worrying about what people will say.

Your favorite daily affirmation:

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

What are your favourite quotes:

“Unapologetically tell your story – A nugget of your truth can propel someone else to live out their destiny and purpose” ~Nomalanga Sitole.

“The graveyard is the richest place on earth, because it is here that you will find all the hopes and dreams that were never fulfilled, the books that were never written, the songs that were never sung, the inventions that were never shared, the cures that were never discovered, all because someone was
too afraid to take that first step, keep with the problem, or determined to carry out their dream.” ~Myles Munroe

Which book are you currently reading?

Prayers that break Curses – John Eckhardt | The Rules of Wealth – Richard Templar.

Please tell us a little more about your booklet “Be Authentic | Be Bold | Be You” and how our readers can get a copy.

I worked on the booklet from October 2017 in response to the challenges young people are facing and launched it in April 2018 at a Boxer Youth leadership program.

With the advent of social media, I found the world is telling them how to live, who to become and what is most socially acceptable. Covid has also created more challenges such as mental issues and they do not know where to turn to. Authenticity | Confidence | Tell Your Story | You are a brand – are the topics addressed in the booklet:

The questions I ask when I conduct workshops are:
* Are you living out your authentic self?
* Would you rather be a counterfeit of someone rather than living out who you were created to be?
* Self-awareness – are you aware of self, what and who you project from the inside out?

To get a copy please email – so I can send a personalised copy.

What are your top 3 business tips?

  1. Research your Industry.
  2. Collaborate with like-minded people (Further together).
  3. Love what you do and the money, recognition and all else will follow. (When you do what you love you’ll never work a day in your life).

What would you say is your secret to success?

My Faith, Passion for what I do and the mandate I have been called to deliver on – I want to leave the world (my community) a better place and empty of everything I was meant to share.

One piece of general advice that you’d like to share:

Start with what you have right now – your gift, your talent, and the people around you. Those are your greatest resources.

Is there anything that Xtraordinary Women can do to assist you on your journey?

I’d love to collaborate with like-minded people who are passionate in transforming lives in their communities, especially young people. We may work to pay bills and create wealth; however, we must live to change lives. #Legacy
