How did your company come about?

Motivating people came naturally. Before sharing my own stories, I started a blog series titled ‘50 Coffees’ where I go on fifty coffee dates with power women in South Africa. I shared the coffee date interviews and eventually felt it was time to connect with the audiences reading the blog posts in person by hosting events. Each event I hosted was so very special and with each event I grew. I went for hosting feel good events to hosting workshops. When I worked at Cambridge Weight Plan I would prepare everything then train people from 18:00-21:00 on a Friday evening and then continue from 09:00-15:00 on a Saturday. I had done it so many times working at Cambridge WP that it felt so simple especially since I had so much to share. How I motivate and encourage people has evolved over the years and I am excited to see it evolve even more into the next chapter.

Media has always been a love of mine and after doing so many freebies for people, doing little presenting gigs and spending the last ten years doing different on-screen projects. I decided it is time to use what I have learnt and offer businesses a skill set I have honed over the years. I have been making videos for a few years but never took it seriously, I just did it as a favour here and there to those who asked. The combination of video creation and presenting skills made my offering a unique one. Vivid Peak Video Marketing tells product/service stories in a magazine TV show style. Giving businesses that “Top Billing” feel without breaking the bank. Being able to work with brands like Food Lover’s Market and Erinvale Estate Hotel and Spa has been amazing to springboard off from.

Please tell us a little more about yourself and your journey thus far.

I started out in Public Relations at a weight loss business called Cambridge Weight Plan South Africa. It was a small business which means I had to be the Public Relations, Marketing, Events, Training of new consultants and basically anything the job required. At the time it felt crazy, but I learnt so much about so many different things. I, of course, made many mistakes too but the lessons I learnt there has carried me ever since. My husband and I decided to start our own business. It did not flourish into the vision we had for it and it was quite disappointing. However, after licking my wounds it was time to get out there again. I have always had a passion for people and encouraging them. I started getting very intentional about my passion and what exactly I wanted to do. The right opportunities presented itself and I was so happy to accept the opportunities which align with my passion and purpose.

Who or What has been the biggest influence in your life and why?

My faith, I want to live up to all I was made to be. My mother, she has done so many amazing things and stood strong in the most challenging times. Then of course I am so inspired by Oprah, Tony Robbins and Maya Angelou to name a few. I enjoy watching true life stories and seeing the challenges people faced, overcame and how they go to where they are.

Find your reason why so when it gets difficult, it will keep on motivating you. Find people who inspiring you and try to spend time with them regularly. Stay fixed on the end goal but not the methods. Allow life to give you opportunities that you may not have thought of before. Stay grateful, open and take time to rest and recuperate.

What advice would you give your younger self?

Take every opportunity to learn and grow. Learn as much as you can. Stop trying to rush things. Don’t worry about what people think. Don’t waste time on things that don’t matter in the long run.

What would you say is the secret to your success?

I am still building on it, but I believe taking a real look at who you are and what you really have to offer. If there are areas to improve then work on it but if there are areas, you shine in then stop selling yourself short. Once you know what you have you can package it. I really believe working hard as well as feeding your mind with vision, knowledge and motivation then finally staying thankful is a recipe for growth.
