•  TECNO’s Hustle Hub welcomed over 700 submissions from creatives across South Africa
  • Hustle Hub to remain online as a publicly accessible talent directory

The winner of the TECNO Hustle Hub R80,000 cash prize has finally been announced, out-performing eight other finalists and wowing a star-studded panel of judges to take the top spot.

The Hustle Hub is a virtual platform developed by global smartphone brand, TECNO, that welcomes any and all talented, enterprising creative South Africans to share their hustle with the rest of the country and the world.

This exciting initiative forms part of the launch campaign of TECNO’s latest product offering – the SPARK 8C – which promises young South Africans more opportunities to unleash and express their creative genius.

Over 700 entrants made their submissions, flexing their creative and entrepreneurial muscles on the Hustle Hub platform for a chance to kickstart their dreams and walk away R80,000 richer.

The panel of judges assembled to select the TECNO Hustle Hub winner consisted of award-winning entrepreneur and socialite, Mohale Motaung, Rhythm City sweetheart, Mbalenhle Zakwe, and beauty queen and all-round hustler Zabelo Hlabisa, along musician, song writer and content creator; Sanele Mkhize.

“It was an incredibly tough decision to make. All eight finalists really impressed us with their pitches. Choosing just one of them as a winner was extremely difficult,” says Motaung. “That being said, in the end the person we chose as the Hustle Hub winner was a step ahead of the other competitors and delivered an extraordinary pitch that ultimately sealed the deal for us.”

The eight finalists pitched their hustles to the judges during an exclusive event held in Jozi. They were:

  1. Munei Nevhutanda; 19-year-old visual artist: paint
  2. Hlengiwe Ntshangase; beauty content creator
  3. Tshegofatso Sepotokele; fashion design graduate and owner of Dress Me Too
  4. Florah Nene; homemade chilli saucer maker of Flo’s Sauce
  5. Sibusiso Sibanyoni; known as Belssin F – musician, producer, song writer and rapper
  6. Melusi Nene; visual artist: digital art, paint, photographer
  7. Andani Mukwevho; founder of Forever Footwear, a 3D printing shoe business
  8. Ivan Plaatjies; fashion designer

“It gives us great pleasure to announce that Florah Nene was chosen as the Hustle Hub winner, and will take home R80,000 to kickstart their entrepreneurship journey. Congratulations, Florah! We chose you because you had a clear business plan for your chilli sauce that included additional employment opportunities – a true indication of how your hustle is ready to take on its next phase in its journey,” says Motaung.

Zikona Captain, PR Manager for TECNO, shares Motaung’s sentiments, and adds, “We are thrilled with the outcome and so proud of Florah for bagging first place, it was well-deserved indeed! We are privileged to have been able to provide an opportunity to aspiring entrepreneurs to advance themselves in their businesses.”

The Hustle Hub will remain online as a publicly accessible talent directory, giving all finalists the opportunity to be discovered in the future – https://tecno.co.za/.
