A Group of female students from The University of Pretoria will be driving from Pretoria to the Equator, 1 – 24th of July 2022. Driving 10 000km through 7 countries in 24 days visiting Universities in six different countries. Our aim is to encourage & uplift female leadership within their African context.
OBJECTIVES AND OPPORTUNITY
We want to travel across 7 countries in search of untold female leadership stories within their African context. In all facets of life women have taken the lead and have done exceptional work in those roles. We want to document and film these women sharing their untold narrative of their leadership journey. With the female African leadership style being unique and authentic, this is an opportunity not only to give exposure to the great work that African women do, but we get to learn from their stories and see life from their perspective. Their stories will inspire us and other students to take up space in our leadership roles and context. Their stories will inspire women around the world in the possibilities for a leadership vision and to take action in their leadership role. African leadership is unique in its communal thinking. The African mother doesn’t just mother her children, but mothers her community. It’s the sense of community in the way we do things that we want the world to see, this is the story we want to share. We want to show that leadership is not just a position, but the impact that women have in their communities.
We will visit 7 Universities in 6 countries to encourage our peers to take up their leadership roles within their context. We want and learn from their life, journeys, and experiences.
Universities we would like to visit on route:
University of Botswana – Gaborone, Botswana
University of Zambia – Lusaka, Zambia
