Following TECNO outperforming Samsung and Xiaomi while itel Mobile surpassed Nokia in Q4 of 2021; TRANSSION Holdings promises to introduce at least two more smartphone products in South Africa in 2022, to further entrench the TECNO brand.
Johannesburg, 04 May 2022 – TRANSSION Holdings dominated the African smartphone market in the fourth quarter of 2021 with a combined unit share of 47.9%; and the Chinese mobile manufacturer has its sites on Q2 and Q4 of 2022 with at least two products to be launched in South Africa.
Mother company to TECNO Mobile and itel Mobile, TRANSSION surpassed competitor brands Samsung (19.6%) and Xiaomi (7.1%) and also dominated feature phone market with a combined unit of 78% surpassing Nokia (8.6%) and Alcatel (2%), according to a International Data Corporation (IDC) report.
The TRANSSION owned brand will be introducing enhanced memory technology in the SPARK product range and make a South African debut into 5G technology with their premium flagship device from the CAMON series in Q2 and Q4 of 2022.
The IDC report has also cited that significant growth in the midrange price band with more growth expected and TECNO intends to be a contributor brands to this positive trajectory.
In 2021, TRANSSION Holdings introduced TECNO SPARK 7 series and CAMON 17P in South Africa, which contributed to the brands Q4 success in the country last year. Both products are in the midrange price band, which is part of the brand’s go-to-market strategy in South Africa, to make cutting-edge technology and quality smartphone devices accessible.
