“There is a superhero in all of us. We just need the courage to put on the cape,” is a quote made famous by one of the world’s favourite heroes, Superman.

Today we celebrate a Super Woman who took up this challenge – A woman who quite literally put on a cape and is making the world a Kinder place one toothbrush at a time.

Chrismarié Barnardt, a dental hygienist and nature lover, has 14 years of clinical experience in general and cosmetic dental practices. When a visit to the dentist is scary, she is willing to change her scrubs for her Super Woman Cape to make sure young patients feel more comfortable in the dentist’s chair. Chrismarié believes the world needs a bit more Kindness – especially our planet.Chrismarié Barnardt

After she got retrenched during the Covid-19 lockdown in 2020, she didn’t lose hope. Her superpower got activated and she is now changing the world one toothbrush at a time. “I read that a plastic toothbrush that was made in the 1930s still exists today, and that bothered me”, said Chrismarié. Like any Superhero, she couldn’t let the bad plastic monster take over the world and so The Kindbrush was born.

The Kindbrush range offers environmentally friendly oral care products, purposefully designed to contribute towards a plastic-free planet. “I trust that the design, look and feel of this beautiful and sustainable range will inspire and motivate people to look forward to their daily oral care routine.”  If you cannot change everything, change at least one thing…”, says Chrismarié.

Chrismarié has been deeply concerned about the impact of traditional oral care products on the global, growing plastic pollution crisis. Plastic toothbrushes and floss dispensers can take more than 400 years to decompose. That’s monstrous, right? So, this Super Woman came up with a solution that is kinder to the environment. Her business approach is rooted in the belief that bite-sized changes matter mightily.

She loves working with her hands. Managing the daily operations of The Kindbrush and manufacturing some of the products herself, gives her the boost she needs to fuel her Kindfulness meter.

A year ago, she never thought she’d have the courage to put on her cape and start this business. Chrismarié loves the fact that she could create something and bring to life an idea that only once existed in her mind.

The KindbrushWonder Woman said: “It’s about what you believe. And I believe in love. Only love will truly save the world.” Chrismarié believes in Kindfulness – being kind and mindful about one’s wellbeing, that of others and the planet. With The Kindbrush she is slaying the plastic beast and enabling users of the product to clean their smiles to use it as often as possible.

In her free time, you will find Chrismarié volunteering at a beach clean-up or rebooting by enjoying some alone time. She is working on new ideas to make an even bigger impact through The Kindbrush range. Even though she can’t disclose too much about that right now, she invites everyone to keep an eye on their website, www.thekindbrush.co.za, for new products. While you are there, why not put on your own cape and brush up on some Kindness – the planet will love you for it.
